We have been following Arlene and her band Hiraya for quite sometime now. We approached her at one of her recent gigs at Freedom Bar and asked her if she would like to be the very first Bembang! feature of Bembang! Magazine. Luckily, she agreed. We took some pictures of her during the gig and at a photoshoot where we interviewed her. We also invited her band Hiraya to perform on the launching of Bembang.com. Read on and find out more about. But please, we really do recommend that you listen to her sing. Her voice is as beautiful as her - a rare kind indeed.

Bembang!: Please tell us something about yourself.. the general questions... age, school, work
Arlene: I'm 21. I'm taking up Industrial Engineering in UP Diliman, and I'm finally graduating this april!
Bembang!: by the way.. you'll be featured as a schoolgirl chick :D
Bembang!: what about HS?
Arlene: naks mukha pa ba kong school girl? hahaha --> wag mo to isama ha!
Bembang!: hindi na pero school girl ka pa eh! bwahaha
Arlene: I went to Woodrose, an all-girl catholic school in alabang.
Bembang!: besides school, what else keeps you busy?
Arlene: I'm the lead singer of a band (Hiraya) for almost 3 years now. I also do a little bit of modeling work on the side... helps me earn extra cash. And just recently, I discovered the joy of aerobics (kick-boxing in particular).
Bembang!: modeling ey? so any chance we might have seen you somewhere?
Bembang!: tv? print?
Arlene: i've only done one tv commercial. i came out in this jollibee ad as a sporty girl (woohoo what a joke). i've also done a few on print... for globe (although I was barely recognizable) and for this new hotel called Ponte Fino. i've also done a few promotional stuff, so some of you might have already seen me around giving away invites in bars.
Bembang!: Do you know the meaning of the word "bembang"?
Arlene: Haha, I'm guessing it refers to "boneable" chick/s.. if you know what i mean *wink wink*
Bembang!: haha well that's a good guess but... :D
Bembang!: So! Are you currently involved with someone?!
Arlene: No boyfriend, but dating someone.
Bembang!: isn't that the same? :D
Arlene: mas maganda ba kung sabihin kong single ako?!
Bembang!: ikaw bahala man :)
Arlene: palitan mo na lang answer ko to--> Sort of!
Bembang!: haay.. ok :)
Arlene: haha baka patayin ako ni *toot-toot eh!
Bembang!: next question...
Bembang!: What's your ideal age to get married? that is if you plan on getting married...
Arlene: if ever i do get married, i think 30 would be a good age. Hopefully by that time, I'll be mature enough to commit and start a family. But who knows! I think it would be better if i play it by ear.
Bembang!: Would you rather live in an apartment or in a house?
Arlene: Now that I'm still single, I'd much rather live in an apartment. There's less hassle and less stuff to worry about in terms of maintenance.
Bembang!: what is your type? what do you look for in a guy? what do you first notice in a guy?
Arlene: I definitely like confident and mature guys. Confidence can be very sexy in a guy. Looks-wise, I prefer the more manly or bad-boy looking type over the cute/ good boy type.
Arlene: I first notice a person's smile and NOSE... hehe, that's my fetish ;)
Bembang!: the rockstar type over the jock type?
Arlene: I like both! Haha, actually it doesn't really matter-- as long as the guy is passionate about what he does, whether it be music or sports.
Bembang!: ok then... who is the most handsome guy you've seen in person?
Bembang!: would you have a 1 night stand with him?
Arlene: hmmm... Jon Hall! Haha, a one night stand with him? If the time and place was absolutely perfect... why not?
Bembang!: paging Jon Hall...
Bembang!: Who is the least likely to be the father of your child - FPJ, Erap, Ramon Revilla, Dolphy?
Arlene: Wow what a question! Erap.
Bembang!: Do you have girl crushes? Prettiest in person? Would you kiss her?
Arlene: Yes I do! I particularly like Denise Richards *drool drool* Prettiest in person? Joey Mead (spelling?)... and yes, I'd kiss her.
Bembang!: I mean torrid kiss... Not just a "beso"
Arlene: yeah i would! she was really hot when i saw her in person... made me weak on my knees. hehe but don't get me wrong, i'm no bisexual. i just wouldn't mind kissing joey mead.
Bembang!: What can you say about William Hung?
Arlene: I love him! Haha I even downloaded his audition tape over the internet. I play it whenever I need a laugh.
Bembang!: Would you rather be filthy rich with a broken marriage or simple but happy?
Arlene: that's a hard question to answer... i think i'd go with simple but happy-- as long as i get to make ends meet.
Bembang!: well you get to make ends meet but there's the occassional selling the car for bob's college fund stuff
Bembang!: you don't get extras...
Bembang!: still simple?
Arlene: yup, still simple!
Bembang!: good for u :)
Bembang!: Do you think Piolo is gay?
Arlene: Yes, definitely!
Bembang!: hahaha
Bembang!: Do you watch porn?
Bembang!: or surf for porn or download?
Arlene: Occasionally, yes I watch porn and surf/download for porn. I'm a little picky though... I don't want it too wild or too bizarre. I like the classic porno stuff, if you can call it that.
Bembang!: Are you familiar with the LaSalle scandal video? What would you do if you were the girl there?
Arlene: yup, i've seen a clip of it. honestly? i'd leave the country and start my life somewhere else... and oh yeah, i'd also stay away from boys with video cams.
Bembang!: When was the last time some random guy approached you?
Arlene: About 2 weeks ago at some bar.
Bembang!: what did he get?
Arlene: haha a classic "not interested" line.
Bembang!: that's cold
Arlene: i don't think it's cold... i'm thinking I'm saving the both of us from any further waste of time and effort... hehe!
Bembang!: fair enough :)
Bembang!: How did you discover bembang.com? what do you think of it?
Bembang!: would you recommend it?
Arlene: I discovered bembang from friends. i think it's great! it definitely has a lot of potential... it's the next big pinoy internet community. and yes, i'd recommend it! i especially like the forums and the fact that nothing's censored ;)

Bembang!: Do you have plans of registering ArleneBuenviaje.com or Buenviaje.com?
Arlene: my dad already has one... albuenviaje.com. I think i'll save myself money and just create a subdomain out of it-- something like arlene.albuenviaje.com ... not bad right?
Bembang!: good enough... let me check that out :)

Bembang!: oh.. what's your dream profession?
Arlene: If I wasn't getting into the corporate world... i'd love to be a Wild on E! correspondent. Or I'd also love to host Lonely Planet on Discovery Channel.... I love traveling and checking out different cultures.

Arlene: None naman... hehe... what is your favorite color?

Arlene: brown... but i also like black and white.
